Abortion? Yes Ma'am

The conservatives, the fundamentalists, the corporate fat cats, the Bushies never tire of telling us that the government should keep their nose out of the individuals life and beliefs.

Don't teach evolution or the facts of sexual reproduction in schools. Don't regulate environmental pollution. Don't tell us what size of cars we can drive or how much gas milage they have to get. They say that personal property should be respected at all costs. Personal religious choices and philosophies should also be respected, they tell us. The man is the head of the family and household. Spare the rod and spoil the child. There is no global warming and if there is, it's not caused by greenhouse gases and if it is, it's not that bad and if it is, it shouldn't be dealt with, lest we interfere with the sacred free market economy.

The control of the children that they demand and recieve is total. They go to church whether they like it or not. They are home schooled. Their sexuality is controlled to conform to the standards of the religious and moral community, until they are no longer of minor age, or run away. They have the right, they say. America is a free country. You can raise your family like you want. Right?

Then you mention a woman's right to control her own body, or death with dignity and they start screaming murderer. What a bunch of sanctimonious witchburners.

It's one thing for government to not regulate those things that government is not intended to do, it is quite another for government to not protect the lives of the most vulnerable members of society. Why are people so blind to the truth? You call us "sanctimonious witchburners", you can say whatever you like, I say abortion is indeed murder. If they can do prenatal spinal bifida surgery at 21 weeks (http://www.fetalcarecenter.org/medicine/therapies/spina-bifida/), then tell me why partial birth abortion up to the last month of pregnacy isn't murder?

I challenge you, I dare you, to look at the pictures above and tell me you're not troubled by them. But hey, this is a woman's choice. And more often than not A MAN HELPS HER. Instead of doing the manly thing, and protecting the child, he does the cowardly thing, avoids responsibility for what he has created, and helps her kill it. But hey, I'm a sanctimonious witchburner. I don't care about women. But I do care about babies. So, do me a favor. If you ever get a woman "in trouble", email me before you decide to kill it. I'll do whatever it takes to adopt him or her. If you think I'm bluffing, try me.

Here are some resources for you, but I doubt you'll look at them. Oh, I promise there are no witches being burned or otherwised harmed in any of these websites. Any witches being harmed is purely simulated.

This is an email from a friend of mine from NJ:

When I was talking to Danny, I asked him what happened with his neice, Melissa (that name!) who is Brianne's age (24) - when she was pregnant (she just had the baby - a little girl) she was fired from her job of 7 years - she was a housekeeper @ St. Peter's Hospital, in New Brunswick -- well, here's the story, which goes to show you how decent the Catholic church can be even in a circumstance where they could have stood firmly on the ground of all the church laws that were broken --

When Melissa was working, she was a young girl - impossible drunken father, so, she moved out at 18 ; thus, she was looking for anything to do for money ... a woman she worked with had two kids, could use a babysitter, sure deal ... this woman was in her late 30s, btw - older AND more saavy ...

Well, Melissa gets involved with the woman's husband. MAJOR SCANDAL. The husband, Eddie, leaves his wife and two boys, for Melissa ... the wife starts a whispering campaign - "that's the homewrecker" - you can imagine! Directly, to her face, the woman is pleasant and even has a smile on her face. Sure, she wasn't stupid. She knew eventually that this young girl, in her immaturity, would snap - and she did. Cursed her out, screaming, threatening to hit her - of course, yes, Melissa was hauled off the premises and promptly canned.

Melissa applies for unemployment and of course she is denied because she was fired. Unemployment tells her that her only redress is to speak to her employer. St. Peter's tells her - okay, you have to speak to the DIRECTOR of the entire hospital - who is a nun.

Melissa goes in there - by this point, visibly pregnant - and tells the nun what she did and what happened, etc. She also says - look, I don't want my job back - I'm not asking for the moon - I just want unemployment until the baby comes.

The nun smiled. "The Catholic church does everything it can for the baby, dear." With that, the nun (a) made sure Melissa had the unemployment ; (b) made sure that mother and baby had health coverage through to delivery; (c) gave Melissa a $25 shopping gift card for Stop and Shop AND a $50 bill out of her own wallet.

Where do you see this happen anywhere? So tell me why abortion is ever necessary? There are always alternatives if you have a heart of compassion. But you seem to think we're the intolerant witchburners. In an abortion, the only one being burned is the baby.

I totally agree that a woman - or any human being - should have choice over their body. For example, I live in Canada, and it is entirely up to bureaucrats whether I see a medical specialist, get further testing, have surgery, or even get a second opinion. If only I were allowed to choose and pay my way for healthcare, perhaps I would have some say over my body.

PS - Abortions are free here. However, I have not chosen to have one. Is that the only choice I'm allowed??
