New Day Commin'

Michael Steele, the chairman of the Republican National Committee says that secular, moderate Republicans and religious, social conservatives within the Party are united now. He says that the Republicans will sweep to victory in the 2010 election, with large numbers of new supporters, including women, racial and cultural minorities, young people and those possessing higher education. He is confident that the GOP's platform of homophobia, foreign military adventurism, xenophobia both domestically and abroad, coupled with a deep distrust of science, disregard for ecological concerns and dependence on a near moronic brand of fundamentalist Christianity are an unbeatable combination for the revitalization of the Republican Party.

Jesus is Lord! Praise his Name! Glory! Glory!

Secular moderate and religious social conservatives?

I guess he's giving the big FU to libertarian/fiscal conservatives.

Whatever. If we don't get somebody good in the primaries, we'll vote 3rd party.

I think libertarian/fiscal conservatives are the least loved child right now.

It's a shame. It is they who are the real descendants of the founding fathers. Their treatment by both sides raises disquieting questions about the nature and direction of contemporary American society. I don't think the recent Tea Party movement had much to do with fiscal responsibility beyond mere lip service. We'll see the measure by who gets elected next year.

You may take comfort in the fact that the American financial system won't be going too much farther before it falls to its knees and coughs blood. Or you may not. I say strip the corpse for whatever's useful and move on.
